The Proceedings of the 29th Session will also be made avaialbe for purchase from the CIE Webshop, the preoceedings containing the complete set of papers in one publication.

International Day of Light May 16 2019

May 16 of every year is set aside to CIE is pleased to participate in the Steering Committee of the IDL and to  promote the  understanding and awarness of how Light is of fundamental importance in our daily life, our environment, in fact the Universe itself.

This importance is well expressed in this message from Ms Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, on the occassion of this year's International Day of Light.

Call for Information on National Regulations and Standards on Obtrusive Light

TC 4-58 is preparing a guideline on obtrusive light from colourful and dynamic lighting. For this purpose, the TC is collecting information on existing national and regional regulation, standards and guidance documents for obtrusive lighting (i.e. light emission and ingression). We therefore would be grateful if you could provide some information on obtrusive lighting in your country, with emphasize on coloured and dynamic aspects. Please send all relevant material to the chair of the TC Steve Lau at Stevelau@china-yd.com on or before 2019-03-15.

Looking for visual data for sparkle and graininess

The CIE Joint Technical Committee JTC 12 (D1/D2/D8) “The measurement of sparkle and graininess” is discussing the definition of the measurement scales of sparkle and graininess. For this purpose, it is collecting visual data, which can be used for scaling or for devising texture difference formulae. Please, if you have obtained or you are planning to obtain visual data of sparkle and graininess and are willing to share them, or if you want to collaborate in the development of the measurement scales of sparkle and graininess, contact to the JTC 12 Chair, Alejandro Ferrero

CIE NC Greece, The Hellenic Illumination Committee, is hosting the 5th International Lighting Design Workshop - ILDW on Mount Pelion under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias & Almyros. The ILDW under the headline "Rethink the Night!" aims at the integration of selected cultural heritage sites into the nightscape of Makrinitsa in an accordingly night-friendly manner by means of advanced lighting techniques.
