CIE is pleased to announce its cooperation with LS 2026 Athens, the IEEE Sustainable Smart Lighting World Conference, taking place from 2–4 December 2026 in Athens, Greece. LS 2026 Athens is a CIE co-branded and CIE-supported IEEE event, reflecting the close collaboration between CIE and IEEE in advancing knowledge exchange and innovation in sustainable smart lighting. IEEE is an important international partner for CIE, particularly through shared interests in lighting technology, applications, smart systems and related engineering fields. The event is organised in cooperation with the CIE National Committee of Greece.
LS 2026 Athens will bring together the international lighting community to exchange knowledge across lighting science, smart systems, sustainability, design, education, policy and professional practice. The conference will address a wide range of topics, including lighting technology and innovation, sustainability and energy efficiency, human-centric lighting, architectural, urban and heritage lighting, AI and smart lighting control, as well as measurement, standards, education and practice.
CIE will be represented at the event by Mr. Tony Bergen, CIE Vice-President Technical and President-Elect, who will deliver a keynote presentation and participate as a panelist. Dr. Georgios Paissidis, President of the CIE National Committee of Greece will also contribute to the opening of the conference with welcome remarks.

CALL FOR PAPERS
LS 2026 invites original contributions in the fields of lighting and photometry, i.e. science, smart systems, sustainability, design, education, policy, and professional practice.

PROGRAMME
The LS 2026 Athens programme will offer a compact, high-quality scientific agenda combining technical paper sessions, poster presentations, selected oral presentations, workshops, round tables and networking activities.
All accepted abstracts will be presented in poster format, while selected landmark papers will be scheduled for 15-minute oral presentations. The programme will also include the Career Day “Lighting Futures”, designed to connect companies, researchers and students around lighting careers and emerging directions, as well as round tables with international lighting organisations and meetings with lighting educators.
Additional activities will include workshops and special sessions, an exhibition and partner area, and a Night Lighting Walk in Athens, linking the city’s heritage with the conference lighting agenda. Invited speakers will be announced in due course.
