CIE NC Denmark (Dansk Center for Lys) is pleased to be a partner of the 12th Light Symposium, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 23 to 25 September 2026. The symposium is organised by Aalborg University and brings together researchers, practitioners, designers, and students to explore the future of lighting.
With the theme “Sensing Light”, Light Symposium 2026 examines how emerging technologies, perceptual insights, architecture, engineering, and creative practices can work together to redefine lighting design. By linking measurable metrics with lived experience, the symposium bridges scientific precision with sensory understanding, covering topics such as photometric and non-visual metrics, multisensory interaction, digital sensing, emotional perception, ecological impact, and cultural meaning.
Hosted at Aalborg University’s Copenhagen Campus, the symposium encourages participants to challenge normative standards, question what and how we measure, and propose lighting strategies shaped by both data and perception. The goal is to explore how sensing light can create environments that support well-being, equity, biodiversity, and planetary care.
The Call for Papers is now open. Original contributions are welcome from researchers, practitioners, designers, artists, and students, with a submission deadline of 1 April 2026.
