CIE Governing Board Updates: Farewell to the Past President and Welcome to the New President-Elect

During the Closing Ceremony of the CIE 2025 Scientific Conference, important changes within the CIE Governing Board were announced in line with the organisation’s statutes.

Dr. Peter Blattner, CIE Past President, has concluded his service on the CIE Governing Board. While he continues to hold the honorary title of CIE Past President, his seat on the Board has been succeeded by the position of President-Elect, in accordance with CIE Statute 5.6.1.

Dr. Peter Blattner, a recipient of the CIE Wyszecki Gold Pin Award, was also honoured with the CIE Silver Pin during the closing ceremony of CIE 2025. Presented as he concluded his service on the CIE Governing Board, the award recognises his many years of dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the work and governance of the CIE. We extend our sincere thanks to Peter for his commitment and leadership — his influence on the organisation will be felt for years to come.

At the same time, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Tony Bergen, CIE Vice-President Technical, has been appointed as the new President-Elect. He will serve as CIE President for the 2027–2031 term. Please join us in warmly congratulating Tony Bergen on his new appointment. We look forward to his continued commitment and contributions as he takes on this important role within the CIE.
