About the Workshop
We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming online workshop held ahead of the CIE 2025 Midterm Meeting. This event marks the first official educational activity organized by the CIE Standing Panel on Education since its establishment and sets the stage for a new series of initiatives in lighting education.
The 100-minute virtual workshop will feature two distinguished professors: Prof. Dr. Hao Luoxi, CIE Vice-President Education, from Tongji University (China) and Prof. Balázs Vince Nagy from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary). Representing diverse educational landscapes in Asia and Europe, they will share their teaching experiences and insights into lighting and optics education. Despite differences in cultural and geographic contexts, both experts will explore a shared theme—how lighting is taught across institutional and regional settings.
The workshop primarily targets educators in the field of light and lighting, aiming to encourage engagement with CIE’s educational initiatives and to enhance the connection between academic curricula and industry training needs. After the keynote presentations, a 30-minute interactive panel discussion will offer an opportunity for questions, dialogue, and collaboration within the global lighting education community.
While university educators are the main audience, graduate students and researchers interested in lighting education are also very welcome to join. Discover a rich exchange of educational methods from Asia and Europe, and join an inspiring conversation that bridges global teaching practices.
To ensure broad accessibility, the workshop will be held online and is open to participants around the world.
