On Monday, 22 September, a CIE delegation, including Dr. Diana Wernsich, CIE Secretary General, and Mr. Tony Bergen, CIE Vice-President Technical and President-Elect, visited the OPPLE Lighting Wujiang campus in China. The campus combines production facilities with research and development activities, showcasing both industrial and home lighting solutions, including smart lighting technologies.
The visit was kindly arranged by the Chinese Illuminating Engineering Society (CIES) – CIE NC China. Our delegation met with Mr. Shou Zhijian, Vice President of the Production and Solution Center, as well as other company representatives, including Mr. Liu Chaobo, Senior Director of the Product and Solution Center; Mr. Lin Chengbing, Director of the Government Relations Department; and Senior Managers of the Product and Solution Center, Mr. Zhao Jun and Mr. Zhu Changrong.
CIE representatives also met with Prof. Liu Qiang, Professor at Wuhan University and Head of the joint laboratory between Wuhan University and OPPLE Lighting. The tour of the campus and showrooms was guided by Ms. Wu Kaisong, Senior Manager of the Internal Business Department.
Introductory presentations were given by both OPPLE Lighting and CIE, providing an overview of the company and the organisation, respectively. Discussions focused on CIE research and standardization activities relevant to lighting manufacturers, particularly in areas such as colour rendering and integrative lighting effects, and explored opportunities for continued and deepened cooperation between CIE and OPPLE in research and development, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing safe, responsible, and high-quality lighting for people.
