CIE Delegation Visits Fudan University in Shanghai

On September 21, following the opening of the Shanghai International Light Festival, Dr. Diana Wernisch, CIE Secretary General, and Mr. Tony Bergen, CIE Vice-President Technical and President-Elect, visited Fudan University in Shanghai.

Fudan University has a long-standing tradition in lighting research and teaching and is celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2025, marking more than a century of academic excellence.

The visit also provided an opportunity to meet Prof. Yandan Lin, Associate Director of CIE Division 6: Photobiology and Photochemistry, and Professor in Fudan University’s Department of Light Sources and Illuminating Engineering. We extend our special thanks to Prof. Yuan Qiao, also from the same department at Fudan University, who served as our main contact person for the Shanghai International Light Festival, and whose support was invaluable to the collaboration between CIE and the local organisers.

In the group photo from the visit are also two PhD students in light and lighting research, who attended the CIE 2025 Midterm Meeting in Vienna this July, highlighting the strong ties between Fudan’s lighting research community and the CIE.

The visit underscored the value of collaboration and knowledge exchange between CIE and leading academic institutions, such as Fudan University.
