On September 19, ahead of the opening of the Shanghai International Light Festival, the CIE delegation met with the China Illuminating Engineering Society (CIES), the National Committee of the CIE in China.
CIES, with more than 5,000 individuals and strong industry connections, is a highly active National Committees within the CIE and a key contributor to the international lighting community. The CIE delegation met with CIES President Mr. Zhenglei Liu, Vice Presidents Prof. Jiangen Pan, Prof. Luoxi Hao, and Mr. Feng Zang, General Secretary Mr. Bingsong Zheng, and other members of the CIES leadership committee.
Our delegation included Dr. Diana Wernisch (CIE Secretary General), Mr. Tony Bergen (CIE Vice-President Technical and President-Elect), and Prof. Nozomu Yoshizawa (Director of CIE Division 3).
The meeting marked an important milestone: the signing of the hosting contract for the 31st Quadrennial Session of the CIE (CIE 2027), which will be held in Nanjing, China from July 9–17, 2027.
The meeting also featured a presentation by Hongli Lighting, a CIES member and a leading Chinese lighting manufacturer.
The CIE looks forward to working closely with CIES to prepare for CIE 2027 and to welcoming the global lighting community to Nanjing.
