CIE Divisions hold an annual meeting to review their technical activities, discuss ongoing and future work, and coordinate the work of their Technical Committees and other activities within the Division. Division meetings are an important part of the CIE's technical work and provide an opportunity for the Division's members and officers to exchange information, review progress and make decisions on matters within the Division's responsibility.
Division meetings are held at least once a year and may take place in person, online or in a hybrid format. Meetings may be organised independently or held in conjunction with a CIE event, such as a conference, workshop, symposia, Midterm Meeting or Quadrennial Session.
Division meetings are typically closed meetings and attended by the Division Director, who chairs the meeting, together with the Division Management Team, Division Members and their alternates, Technical Committee Chairs, and other relevant Division participants such as Division Reporters, Liaison Representatives and Division Associates, as appropriate. The specific composition of each meeting may vary depending on the agenda and the activities of the Division. In accordance with the CIE Code of Procedure, observers may also attend with the approval of the Division Director.
Participation arrangements vary between Division meetings. Some are limited to Division members and designated participants, while meetings held in conjunction with CIE biennial meetings are usually open to participants from the wider conference, subject to a separate registration fee. Observers or other interested participants may also be permitted to attend, subject to the arrangements established by the Division
