Note 1 to entry: A typical application of an array detector is to sense the local resolved output of a polychromator.

Note 2 to entry: In some cases, optical components can form a part of the array as in, for example, a fibre optics faceplate coupled array detector.

Note 3 to entry: This entry was numbered 17-57 in CIE S 017:2011.
