Note 1 to entry: For lighting chains with non-standardized electric lamps (e.g. electric lamps of the push-in type), the electric lamps are regarded as part of the chain.

Note 2 to entry: For lighting chains with non-removable electric lamps, the electric lamps are regarded as part of the chain.

Note 3 to entry: A lighting chain can incorporate control devices (e.g. flasher units).

Note 4 to entry: This entry was numbered 845-10-24 in IEC 60050-845:1987.

Note 5 to entry: This entry was numbered 17-675 and 17-678 in CIE S 017:2011.
