CIE Observer status on CCPR

In line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM) and the CIE in May 2007, the CIE has been given Observer status on the CIPM's Consultative Committee for Photometry and Radiometry (CCPR). This means that a representative of the CIE can attend all CCPR meetings in future without any specific invitation being required from the chairman of the CCPR.

The CIE already has Member status on the CIPM's Consultative Committee on Units (CCU).

At a liaison meeting between the CIE and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), which was held in November 2007 in terms of the abovementioned MOU, modalities for future regular consultations between the CIE Central Bureau and the BIPM were agreed upon. The CIE also submitted its draft of the next version of International Lighting Vocabulary (ILV) to the BIPM, with the request to check it for compliance with the International System of Units (SI). The BIPM in turn passed on the document to the CCPR to carry out this task as soon as possible.
